Operators
For experienced plant operators and lifting personnel looking to demonstrate occupational competence and, where applicable, progress from a CPCS Red Card to a CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card.

Supervisors
For experienced supervisors responsible for managing construction activities or coordinating lifting operations, including Construction Site Supervisors and Crane Lift Supervisors.

Appointed Persons
For experienced Appointed Persons responsible for planning, organising and managing lifting operations in accordance with current legislation and BS 7121.

In most cases, no. NVQ qualifications are workplace-based and assessment is completed in a normal working environment. This means candidates can continue working in their current role while their qualification is being assessed.
Yes, for applicable CPCS categories. Successfully completing the relevant NVQ is one of the requirements for progressing from a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card to a CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card, subject to meeting the current CPCS scheme requirements. Our team can advise on whether a chosen qualification supports Blue Card progression.
Completion times vary depending on the level, experience available and assessment scheduling. An assigned assessor will provide guidance through the process and support completion as efficiently as possible.
Level 2 is suitable for plant operators and lifting operatives. Level 4 is for supervisors. Level 5 is for Appointed Persons. Levels 6 and 7 are for construction managers and senior leaders. If unsure, contact our team and we will recommend the most appropriate qualification.

Assessment is carried out using a combination of workplace observation, professional discussions, knowledge questioning and the review of workplace evidence. Your assessor will explain each stage and provide support throughout.
