Certification Information
CPCS Red Trained Operator Card
Once you’ve completed training and passed the CPCS Technical Test, you’ll receive the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card for Contract Crane Operator. This two-year card recognises your enhanced competence in managing contract lifting operations.
Progression to Blue Card:
Work in contract lift operations to build experience in the enhanced responsibilities of this role. Your Red Card allows you to operate as a contract lift crane operator whilst gathering evidence for NVQ Level 2 assessment and Blue Card progression. To upgrade to the Blue Card, you must complete the NVQ Level 2 in Plant Operations – Contract Crane Operator within two years.
Career Development:
Contract Crane operators often work with larger equipment and more complex lifts. This qualification enhances your professional standing and typically commands higher rates than standard crane hire operations.
