Course Overview

The CPCS Red Card training for Appointed Person provides intensive preparation for managing lifting operations. Over five days, you'll learn the fundamentals of planning lifts, selecting equipment, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring site safety for basic to moderately complex lifting operations.

Qualification Information

This comprehensive 5-day training course prepares you for the CPCS Technical Test for Appointed Person. Throughout the week, you’ll cover all the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to plan and manage lifting operations safely and within legal requirements.

Certification Information

CPCS Red Trained Operator Card

Once you’ve successfully completed the training and passed your CPCS Technical Test, you’ll receive the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card for Appointed Person. This card is valid for two years and shows you’ve completed the required training and testing.

Progression to Blue Card:
Your Red Card gives you two years to gain experience and complete your NVQ Level 5 assessment, which will allow you to progress to the Blue Competent Operator Card. During this time, you’ll work whilst building your competence portfolio.

Career Development:
With your Red Card, you can begin working as a trainee or assistant Appointed Person, gaining the practical experience you’ll need for your NVQ Level 5 assessment. This qualification lays the foundation for developing expertise in one of the industry’s most critical safety roles, with a clear path to Blue Card status and senior positions once you’ve completed your NVQ qualification.

To enrol on this CPCS course, please ensure you have the following documentation ready:

  • Proof of Identity: A valid passport or UK driving licence (photocard)
  • Proof of Address: Recent utility bill or bank statement (dated within the last 3 months)
  • CSCS Health & Safety Test: Passed within the last 2 years (bring your pass certificate)
  • Passport Photo: One recent passport-sized photograph
